Whether I’m sent a product free of charge or have purchased it myself, all opinions are my own. Sample provided by Sprogs.
When was the last time you were hungry for a bite between meals, and thought to yourself, “I could really go for a Sprog right now”? Yeah, me neither, until I was introduced to this tasty, three-bite snack. Made fresh in San Francisco, these brown rice-based nuggets come in a variety of sweet and savory flavors that appeal to kids and adults alike.
As you can see from the photo above, the Rice Scooters come in *a lot* of flavors. My favorite was the Kale and Kimchee variety, which is packed with savory flavor and healthy greens. I also loved the Jamaican Jerk Chicken, a clever juxtaposition of classic Jamaican Peas and Rice wrapped around jerk-spiced, shredded chicken. The Rice Pudding variety is a perfectly portioned bite of dessert, with plump raisins and just a touch of cinnamon spice.
If you’re tired of dry, crumbly energy bars and other typical snack options, give these a try. They are perishable, but Sprogs can be frozen for much longer shelf life — they’ll come to temperature in your lunch bag, ready to eat any time of day.
This is such a good idea for a snack. I’ve recently started to prepare onigiris to have for a quick snack and they also freeze very well, even with tuna or salmon inside! So tasty and healthy
This sounds like a variation on the classic Onigiri from Japan. How are they eaten? Fork?
Hi Bunny —
Yes, these are a lot like onigiri! You can eat them sort of like a push pop, scooting them out of the plastic wrapper as you take bites off of the top. No utensils necessary!
